IOOS Glider DAC

Glider missions, plotted.

Pick a deployment and get its track, its sections, and its T–S diagram — temperature and salinity as measured, and Conservative Temperature, Absolute Salinity, density, spice and sound speed computed from TEOS-10 in your browser. Nothing is precomputed and nothing is uploaded.

Where this comes from

The catalog and every profile on this site are read directly from theIOOS Glider Data Assembly Center, the national archive US glider operators submit to. This site holds no copy of it: your browser asks the DAC, and the plots are drawn from the answer. A snapshot of the catalog is kept only so the list still appears when the DAC is unreachable.

Derived properties are computed here, from the practical salinity, in-situ temperature and pressure each dataset publishes, using a TEOS-10 implementation evaluated from the Gibbs function rather than fitted polynomials. Absolute Salinity uses the measured anomaly atlas and each sample's own position; where a position is unavailable the page says the value is Reference Salinity instead of quietly reporting one under the other's name.

Raw Slocum files can be read on the local filespage without leaving your machine. For CSV, netCDF and OG1 exports of those files, the decoder on oceansensing.orgdoes more.
